WHAT’S WHAT: A product of Mexico City, Mexico, RUSTY EYE are the epitome of hard work in the music business. With a “make it or break it” attitude, the three piece could have gone anywhere when they left Mexico, but they went straight for the throat of the Heavy Metal scene in America and claimed Hollywood, California as base of operations. Nobody puts RUSTY EYE in a corner, meaning that you can’t slap a label on this band and lump them in with anybody else. The current lineup, consisting of Mr. Rust (bass/vocals), Miss Randall (drums/vocals) and Baron Murtland (guitars) broke the mold with the release of Stendhal Syndrome (2007), and followed strong with the impossible to wear out Possessor (2009), all on their own imprint Epoché Records. Constant work has earned them the respect of metal fans the world over, and also the love of critics in both the music and horror world, as they have done things the old school way, bypassing all of the bullshit and devoting themselves to standing out by writing and playing the gnarliest music possible. Now a certified legend in the Hollywood scene, RUSTY EYE have taken to the legendary Rainbow to record and unleash upon a new live album upon us. Live at The Rainbow MMX is 70-odd minutes of succulent metal, tinged with punk rock, including all the platters that matter from the fifteen-plus career of these DIY heroes. If this band isn’t already one of your favorites, they damn well need to be. (Bubbs Harris)

Yeah, so I’ve said this before, but I can’t say it enough: Rusty Eye is one of the coolest horror-themed bands working today, to the point of redefining the whole concept of “horror metal.” Every aspect of their music – songwriting, performing style, production and visual presentation, the whole deal – reflects the same passion for all things macabre that you FEARnet fiends share. But all that would be wasted if they weren’t also a technically solid, entertaining and insanely heavy band. The sonic proof’s all in there, evolving with each new release and proving that the LA-based trio isn’t just some Fulci-obsessed garage combo. Now Rusty Eye have released a new live record chronicling their April 2010 performance at the legendary Rainbow Bar & Grill, and I got to spend some quality ear-time with the album. Read on and I’ll drop some knowledge on ya… Continue reading

Über Röck UK. 13 Days Of Halloween. “Miss Randall” interview
Written by Gaz E
Day 10 of Über Röck’s 13 Days Of Halloween and it’s time to unleash our second ladykiller. Miss Randall not only sings and plays drums in terror-fuelled thrash ‘n’ roll outfit Rusty Eye, she also knows her shit when it comes to horror movies, but I guess that’s obvious when you get someone like Claudio Simonetti from the legendary Goblin to guest on your latest album. If you love metal and you love horror then you are about to find your next (bad) dream woman…… Continue reading

It’s not often you can say something is original. However Hollywood’s Rusty Eye are just about as original as they come. The style encompasses a vast range of genres, as do the vocals which are all forged into a heavy metal sound with a progressive touch. The production really has that garage band feel to it, which is quite lo-fi although it doesn’t affect any of the clarity in the overall sound. The vocal styles range from the varying vocal styles of Mr. Rust who delivers an array of extreme and clean vocals, as well as Miss Randall’s sultry female voice. Of course Mr. Rust and Miss Randall handle bass and drums respectively, with the three piece being rounded out by guitar player Baron Murtland. Continue reading
